Take Me Home
Earlier this week, I released another new song. This one is called “Take Me Home,” and it’s about traveling through West Virginia. This comes from the same session as “Snow In The Air,” which I released earlier this year. After adding parts recorded later by a few friends, this became the song of mine with the longest list of credits.
The basic track was recorded live at Riverview Sound by Sam Margolis and featured Hazel Royer on upright bass, Hadley Lloyd on drums, and my acoustic guitar and vocal. Scott Thompson’s electric guitars were the first parts to be added, followed by Hammond organ by Michael Bellar. Rachel Sumner added background vocals, after which my friend and former bandmate MorganEve Swain contributed harmonies to the choruses. I’d been looking for one more sound to complete the track, and I finally got it from Paul Belbusti, who added touches of ukulele. Brad Bensko did a combination of digital and analog mixing at his Bearded Cat Studio, and John McLaggan mastered it at Parachute Mastering.
If you ever get a chance to travel through West Virginia, I recommend it. I’ve been there a half a dozen times or so, and there might be a bit of each of those trips in this song. “Take Me Home” is available on Bandcamp as well as all streaming services.
If you’ve listened to these three songs I’ve released over the past few months, I greatly appreciate it. It’s hard to know sometimes if the music is reaching anyone, but I’ve received some very kind and heartening feedback. I’m happy to share with you that eight more songs will join these three on my first full album since 2015. I’ll have more details on that soon: very soon, in fact, because the album will be released one month from today, on June 16th. I’m eager to share it with you, and I hope you enjoy it.
